BLOCKS & BORDERS
BASIC BLOCK STEP-BY-STEP
To start, hoop a piece of No Show Mesh and run the
first machine step, which is the squaring stitch.
The next machine step is the tacking stitch, which will
hold the batting in place. Use scissors to trim away the
excess batting up to the tacking stitch.
Next, place the base fabric face up on top of the
batting. Make sure there is at least 1⁄2” seam allowance
on all sides.
Place a piece of batting on top of the squaring stitch,
making sure that it completely covers the
squaring stitch.
Once the batting is completely trimmed, it’s time to add
the base fabric.
Next, run the tacking stitch for the base fabric
TIP: For the tacking stitch, use a thread that matches
the base fabric.
