Alfred Allan Lewis is a New York City native
who began his career as an actor, playing
the role of ‘The Chap’ in Mae West’s play Lil
Diamond. He continued to perform in various
plays in New York City and throughout that time,
he wrote a number of books, plays, and scripts
of great variety. Among some of his published
books, he’s written: Miss Elizabeth Arden, Man
of the World, Ladies and Not So Gentle Women,
and The Evidence Never Lies: The Casebook of
a Modern Sherlock Holmes.
Lewis’s television script ventures earned him a
NBC Peabody Award for his work on A Tribute
to Eugene O’Neill. He was also a scriptwriter
for The Edge of Night, a popular CBS mystery
series, and the American Gothic soap opera
Dark Shadows. He and his partner Ralph
Lutrin eventually relocated to Miami, and have
been living in sunny Miami Beach for the past
25 years. Allan continues the legacy he and
Ralph Lutrin created of deep commitment to
and generous support of South Florida’s leading
cultural institutions.
