Loof Family Foundation
For decades, the Loof family has supported various art
forms, especially opera. Music, especially opera, has been
a cornerstone in the family which began with the matriarch of
the family, Gunborg Loof who was a touring classical singer
in Sweden in the mid-1900’s. Gunborg created a festive
home infused with music and song. Her grand piano was the
centerpiece for all family and social gatherings and her legacy
continues.
The oldest of her two children, Per-Olof Lööf, is a native of Sweden, a U.S. citizen and a resident of Florida for the past
twenty years. He has been active in many civic and charitable organizations, is on the board of Florida Grand Opera, a
member of the Board of the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children headquartered in Washington DC, a
Livery man and Freeman of the City of London, and a Founding Member of the Guild of Security Professionals, City of
London. Per-Olof Lööf is the Honorary Consul of Sweden since he received his exequatur from the US State Department
in 2006 and was also instrumental in establishing the Swedish Church in South Florida. Mr. Lööf founded the Kisengo
Foundation, a charity that has transformed the lives of those in the Village of Kisengo in the Katanga Province of the
Democratic Republic of Congo. The foundation has built an infrastructure of roads, bridges, clean water and agriculture
projects for a local food source and economic opportunities.
Mr. Lööf has an extensive background in the global economy and has a proven track record of successful businessturnarounds
and has served as CEO across multiple industries and sectors, with a focus on technology, innovation and
leadership of Platinum Equity. Elevate Textiles consists of a portfolio of legacy brands with customers in over 100 countries
and a global footprint includes 37 facilities and over 15,000 employees.
Mr Lööf most recently served 13 years as CEO of Kemet Electronics Corporation (NYSE:KEM), a leading manufacturer of
electronic components with more than 15,000 employees, 24 manufacturing facilities globally and operations, sales and
service in 34 countries on all continents. Lööf repositioned KEMET, lifting sales from $400 million to $1.4 billion during his
tenure. Prior to KEMET, Mr. Lööf was CEO of Sensormatic Electronics Corporation where he led the organization through
for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Mr. Lööf has twin sons John and Carl. John is an engineering graduate of Tufts University, lives in Las Angeles with his
new bride and is working for an internet startup after a lengthy tenure at Indeed and LinkedIn. Carl graduated from the
University of Chicago, received his master’s degree from The London School of Economics and currently works for New
York Life in New York City with a focus on digital marketing.
