Corporate and Foundation Gifts $75,000 +
During her lifetime, Virginia Hunt Clark continued the legacy of philanthropy established by her
late husband, Henry Cauley Clark, and his late mother, Elise Adams. In honor of his outstanding
support, Florida Grand Opera established the Henry C. Clark Conductor award in 1997 to honor
one conductor each season. During the 2018–19 season, Roberto Kalb, who will join FGO for the
production of Frida, is the Henry C. Clark Conductor. Mrs. Adams sponsored the production of
ten operas between 1974 and 1987, several of which continued to be used by FGO and rented
by other opera companies for the staging of Turandot, Macbeth, Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Un ballo
, and a prior production of Otello. In 2007 the Adams
Foundation’s gift of $1 million helped the company purchase its current headquarters in Miami.
The Arthur F. and Alice E. Adams Supporting Foundation was created as an Estate Trust to
Memphis, Inc., and the Metropolitan Opera Association, Inc. The work of the Adams Supporting
Foundation is carried on by Mrs. Clark’s daughter, Renee Clark Guibao, and grandson, Paul
Guibao.
Florida Grand Opera gratefully acknowledges the ongoing legacy of Arthur F. and Alice E. Adams
in supporting the company’s season programming.
