The Entrance
The entry steps
and hall are made
of keystone coral
mined from Saint
Augustine. Stone
from the same
mine was used in
the 2013
renovations.
The entry doors
and ceiling beams
are of local
cypress, treated
with a hot lime
wash. The doors
are a copy of
doors found in an Istanbul mosque. The Japanese hand-carved wooden panels
on the foyer wall are from Roger Amory’s collection. They are 19th century,
but are based on 18th-century Japanese temple designs.
