The
Roof
The roof is an authentic
Bermuda roof. The stairstep
structure of concrete tiles
allows water to fl ow to a
gutter, then into a cistern.
The cistern is located under
the entry porch, and
provides water to irrigate
the gardens.
The Shell
Collection
Two extensive shell
collections are exhibited
in the loggia. On the right
is the Henry Francis
DuPont collection,
gathered from local
beaches of Gasparilla and
Little Gasparilla Islands,
from 1920 to 1969. On
the left is a collection of
shells from all over the
world, donated by
conchologist, George
Melissas.
