Fulfi lled
Once I thought
Th at being busy
Was living fully.
Appointments fi lled my days
And chores were challenges,
Work brought rewards
And recognition.
Now I’ve learned to savor
Th e sweetness of doing next to nothing.
Like a newfound friend
Whose presence alone brings pleasure.
Th e joy of just being is what fulfi lls me.
Now I pause
To soak up sounds,
Listen carefully
To words well spoken …
Embrace the gift of an ordinary day.
Slow down … I think … slow down …
Look around.
Now I live in the house of contentment …
In the state of awareness …
In the world of belonging.
