Located adjacent to the racetrack on the grounds of Monmouth Park,
is Blu Grotto Ristorante—home to a high-end Italian steakhouse and an
outdoor beer garden. In addition to over 20 craft beers, a great happy
hour and authentic Neapolitan pizzas, the beer garden at Blu Grotto
features live music every Wednesday through Sunday throughout
the summer. Bands such as Brian Kirk and the Jirks and The Nerds
historically headline the summer concert series.
Located directly across from Blu Grotto is another entertainment option
at Monmouth Park: Bluegrass Miniature Golf is home to two 18-hole
courses that promise to challenge and thrill fans of all ages.
As always, the jewel of the summer season is Monmouth Park’s biggest
race—the $1 million TVG.com Haskell Invitational. Nearly 40,000 people
make the Haskell one of the Jersey Shore’s biggest summer parties
every year.
Every Sunday during the summer season is free Family Fun Day,
sponsored by The Star-Ledger, featuring kids’ activities such as pony
rides, a bounce house, clowns and face painters. It all takes place in
Monmouth Park’s spacious picnic area, where families and groups can
grab a table to spend a day at the races.
There are more than 50 days of live racing this summer at Monmouth
Park, with races every week, May through September. General parking
and general admission are each only $5, and children 12 and under are
