Monmouth County is a hotbed of creativity, with Monmouth Arts and a host of local arts organizations fostering an
environment for innovative artists to thrive. Nowhere is this more evident than in the county’s wealth of annual local
film festivals, including the Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park in March; FilmOneFest, “The Best Little Film
Festival in the World” (Smart Movie Making) in July; and the Monmouth Film Festival at the Two River Theater in Red
Bank in August.
The sixth annual Asbury Park Music & Film Festival returns to the Asbury Park boardwalk in April, with an evening
with Sopranos creator David Chase in the lineup. Funds raised through the APMFF support music programs for the
underserved youth in Asbury Park. The Indie Street Film Festival returns to Red Bank in July, bringing five days of
film, art events, live discussions and a genuinely positive, creative vibe to the community. Each year the festival kicks
off with a youth community mural to get the town buzzing around creation and collaboration.
Submissions for the various events are open throughout the year, so whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker or an avid
fan of unique independent films, make your plans now to be a part of the 2020 film festival scene.
