Bike along the Henry Hudson Trail, meander through
the woods at Poricy Park or explore some scenic
overlooks at Hartshorne and Huber Woods. Another
place you won’t want to miss is Deep Cut Gardens. This
park is just minutes from the Garden State Parkway
and features year-round flora and education for the
home gardener. Across the road is Tatum Park, which
encompasses 366 acres of beautiful woods and fields.
You can roam over six miles of trails through red
and chestnut oak and tulip trees. Thompson Park, in
the Lincroft section of Middletown, boasts extensive
walking, jogging and biking trails as well as canoe
rentals.
In addition to its parks and beaches, Middletown has a
robust business community and provides easy access
to New York City by bus, rail or ferry. There are many
unique boutiques, restaurants and shops at Campbell’s
Junction in the Belford area of the township as well as
in the Lincroft section of town. Whether you are driving
down Highway 36 towards Sandy Hook or on Route
35 towards the Navesink River, there are plenty of
diverse places to shop and dine. From high-end food
experiences to lively sports bars, to restaurants near the
water where you can sip on a cocktail while listening to
live music, Middletown has it all.
Consistently named one of the nation’s safest and
best towns, Middletown hosts multiple community
events throughout the year to bring people together
to highlight everything the town has to offer. This year,
Middletown will introduce Freedom Fest, an evening
of fireworks, food and fun, on July 1st at Bayshore
Waterfront Park in the Port Monmouth area of town.
The Township hosts Middletown Day, a fully-sponsored
annual fall festival at Croydon Hall in the Leonardo
section of town at the end of September, offering an
afternoon filled with live local entertainment, a craft
fair, children’s activities, a business and community
showcase and more. Other large-scale annual events
include a tribute to Middletown’s honored veterans at
the annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades,
the 9/11 memorial service, National Night Out in August
to promote police-community partnerships, and our
annual Mayor’s 5K Challenge at Poricy Park in October.
Middletown is more than just a seasonal destination.
