Pierre Daura, Port of Cassis, 1925, Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida
The exhibition covers seven decades, fromEugène
Bondin’s “Port of Saint-Brieuc” in 1871 to Jean
Dufy’s “Marseille” in 1954, including paintings
from pre-impressionism to Mediterranean in
style. Some scenes are a slice of life from festive
resort areas that were filled with a holiday spirit,
but most depicted typical harbors and working
ports that were centers for trade and fishing.
The Museum’s 1925
“Port of Cassis” by Pierre Daura
depicts a hard-working port.
