Guests of La Krewe des Gens Extraordinaire
spent an elite evening as they celebrated
their 25th Anniversary on Saturday,
February 22. Th e theme was “25th Image
Awards” recognizing past Royalty, entertainers
and performers. Th e stage refl ected
the Krewe colors of fuchsia, turquoise and
black highlighted with silver sequins, glitter
and glam with colorful uplights.
Ricky Armelin, Sr., sang the National
Anthem with his smooth vocals. The
color guard was presented by Washington
Marion High School ROTC.
The 2020 Royal Court was led by President
Johnnie Belle Chavis and Ball Captains
Sybil Douglas and Dorothy Leger.
The Duke and Duchess of Motion Pictures
are Carl and Crystal Scott. Natives
of DeRidder, they graduated from DeRidder
High School and Northwestern State
University, Carl with a Bachelor of Science
in industrial engineering and Crystal
with a Bachelor of Science in psychology.
Duke Carl is employed by Phillips 66 as
an operator and is a member of the Fire
Brigade and Hazmat Team. He is a 3rd
degree Master Mason. Duchess Crystal is
employed by Calcasieu Parish Police Jury
as a local area coordinator and is a member
of the Women’s Commission of SWLA.
Crystal has been a Krewe member since
2017. The Duke and Duchess are members

of New Covenant Faith Baptist Church
in Lake Charles and currently reside in
Sulphur with their three wonderful children,
Mariah, Taylor and Dorian. They
enjoy traveling, entertaining, live music,
the arts and spending time with friends
and family.
The Duke and Duchess of Entertainment
are Bernard Johnson and Yvette
Sims. Duke Bernard a graduate of Ville
Platte High School and is employed by
Arthur Miller as a cement fabricator. He
has four sons, Dion, Graylen, Vonte and
Lorenzo. Bernard enjoys hunting, fishing,
dancing, but most of all, he loves cooking
in his “black pot” and hosting friends and
