Th e Krewe des Lunatiques
celebrated its 32nd Mardi Gras
Ball in the Contraband Room of
the Lake Charles Civic Center on
Saturday, February 15. Th e theme
was Lunatiques Gone Jungle
Wild, and Krewe members and
guests entered a beautiful jungle
oasis with decorations by Krista
Perkins.
Master of Ceremonies Brandon
Martin introduced the hard
workers of the 2019-2020 board
of directors and elected offi cers
including Chairman Ashley
Chisman along with Charlotte
Kohlenberg, Tammy Cossey, Jeremy
Wood, Bree Robinson, Krista
Perkins, Tammy Romero, Richelle
Royer and Marsha Mouser.
Th e evening festivities began
with performances by the Orange
Jazz Company and Lorna Badon
Dance. A fi nal farewell was given
to Queen Evelyn XXXI, Tammy
Cossey and King Raphael XXXI,
Mike Cossey.
Th e 2020 Beau is Logan Todd,
the son of Toddy and Sherry
Todd of Holmwood and grandson
of Vada Sternburg of Lake
Charles and Martha “Plukey”
Todd of Holmwood. Logan is a
senior at St Louis Catholic High
School where he is a four-year
member of FBLA, serves as forward
on the varsity soccer team,
e is a member of 4H, Louisiana
Cattlemen’s Association and a
member of Beef Master’s Breeders.
Aft er graduation, Logan will
attend McNeese State University
majoring in pre-physical therapy.
Logan enjoys soccer, fi shing,
hunting and ranching on the family
farm.
Th e presentation continued
with the arrival of our Lost in the
Jungle Captain, Tammy Cossey.
Tammy is the daughter of
the late Gloria and Jerry Standley
and is married to Mike Cossey.
She is a graduate of West-Orange
Stark High School and is Senior
AP Analyst at Air Liquide. Tammy
enjoys spending time with
her two grandchildren, Avery and
Connor, as well as reading and
shopping. She has been a member
of the Krewe Des Lunatiques for
13 years where she serves on the
Executive Board.
Queen Evelyn XXXII
“Queen of the Jungle” is Richelle
Spears. Th e daughter of
Alana Royer and the late Kenneth
Royer, she is originally from
DeQuincy. Richelle is a graduate
of DeQuincy High School and attended
McNeese State University,
majoring in special education.
She is self-employed at Richelle
Appraisals & Consulting and
has spent the past 20 years as a
real estate appraiser, specializing
in rural and unusual properties.
When she’s not appraising,
you can fi nd her in her art studio
designing costumes, headpieces
and more! She has one son,
Jordan, and three grandchildren,
Khloe, Layna Jayne and Cannon.
Th e Queen volunteers for Mad
Hot Ballroom, Hope Foundation’s
One Night and other charity
events. She is a member of the
Gulf Coast Parrot Heads amd the
Krewe of Illusions, where she presided
on the board as Krewe liaison
and president and was Queen
27. She has been a member of the
Krewe Des Lunatiques for two
years and currently holds
the position as member at
large.
Princess Khloe is
Khloe Neveah Spears,
the eight-year-old
daughter of Jordan
Spears and Kasha Maddox,
and the granddaughter
of Richelle
Spears of Lake Charles
and Bobby and Dawn
Krewe des Lunatiques 2020 Court
Spears of DeQuincy. She is
in the second grade at Singer
Elementary School where she
is a Banner Roll student. She is
in her fourth year of dance and
second year on dance team at
Sondra Stark School of Dance
and has participated in Little
Dribblers and Dixie Youth Ball
for the last three years. Khloe
is also a member of First Baptist

Church in DeQuincy. One
of her favorite things is to help
her Paw Paw take care of the
chickens, guineas, ducks, goat,
rabbits and dogs. Khloe loves
drawing, coloring and crafting
fun things, and likes to fish,
play outside and shoot her BB
gun. When she grows up, she
wants to be an artist or a veterinarian.

fullest and is excited to see what
God has in store for her.
Th e Duchess of Aves was
Annette Bertrand. Born in
DeQuincy, she graduated high
school early and was in Who’s Who
Among American High School
Students. She then attended Delta
Technical School, studied dance at
Sondra Star School of Dance and
took art classes. Annette has been
married for 35 years to Richard
Bertrand, Sr. and they have a
beautiful daughter Kelly, 17. Annette
enjoys creative craft ing and
bargain shopping and can make
something beautiful out of nothing.
She has been a member of the
Krewe of Illusions for fi ve years and
is currently President. Th is year, she
joined the Lunatiques and is ready
to spread joy, peace, love and glitter
wherever she goes.
Th e Duchess of Feline was
Krista Perkins. Krista is the
daughter of Randy Wilson and
Mike and Tammy Cossey. She
graduated from Orangefi eld High
School and attended Lamar College.
A resident of Orange, she
is married to Tyler Perkins and
they have two children, Avery
and Connor. Krista is Avery’s
homeroom mom, vice president
of the PTO for Little Cypress
Elementary, and volunteers at
Avery’s dance studio. She enjoys
craft ing, shopping, reading, and
spending time with her family.
She has enjoyed many years with
the Krewe and is currently on the
board serving as Ball Decorating
Chairman.
Th e Krewe off ered special
thanks to the dancers from the
Orange Jazz Co. and Lorna
Badon-Legacy Dance Team, the
Chandelier Room for allowing
Court pictures to be taken, and
Greg and Cody Dorman of G&C
Music for providing years of
