The Krewe de la Maison de Calcasieu celebrated
its 21st annual Ball on Friday, February 14 with
the Valentine’s Day theme, Fall in Love With Maison.
The ball was held at the West Cal Event Center.
Master of Ceremonies John Bridges welcomed
guests and members to a night to remember.
The Krewe said farewell to the 2019 Royalty in
Revue Royal Court. After the past royalty took
their last walk, members Chip and Christie Hamilton
presented the Krewe crest, followed by two
debutantes, Miss Kiaya Berzas of Texas and Miss
Charlene LaCombe of Lake Charles.
With a night made for lovers, it was only fitting
to begin the presentation with the Captains
of Love. Chosen for the 2020 Mardi Gras season
were Shaun and Becky Melancon of Sulphur.
Shaun, as Cupid, appeared in gold, wielding his
bow on Becky, as Psyche, and other members of
the Court. Shaun and Becky have been members
of the Krewe since 2015.
Decked out in purple with sentiments of love
adorning their costumes, the Krewe presented
the Duke and Duchess of Love Letters, L.J. and
Alexis Wimberly. Moss Bluff residents, the couple
has been members of the Krewe since 2018 with
L.J. serving as the Director of Parades and Floats.
Shining bright like diamonds against their black
costumes, the Krewe presented the Duke and
Duchess of Diamonds, Elmer and Jackie Roach.
Residents of Westlake, the couple joined the
Krewe in 2018. Jackie is currently serving as the
Director of Community Service.
Appearing in red with roses scattered on their
costumes, the Krewe presented the Duke and
