Celebration at the
Botanical Gardens
The Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation has made
the difficult decision to cancel the annual Holiday
Lights in the Gardens in Largo for the first time in
20 years. However, the gardens will still be decorated
for the daytime from November 27, 2020 through
January 2, 2021. The free admission gardens are open
from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. In addition, the foundation is
on target to break ground in December for its hands-on
Children’s Discovery Garden. The foundation is also
looking for volunteers to help with the development
and implementation of next year’s Holiday Lights in
the Gardens event. If you are interested, please visit
flbgfoundation.org/volunteer for more information.

A Wheely
Good Time
Wheelchairs 4 Kids will hold its 10th
annual “Wheely Good Time” fundraiser
on Saturday, November 14th at the
Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor.
Fox 13 News Anchor Mark Wilson
will host the benefit in the Inverness
Ballroom, which is spacious enough
for proper social distancing. Guests
will enjoy cocktails, premium hors
d’oeuvres, raffles and an auction, as new
equipment is presented to some very
amazing children. If you can’t make it
there, you can still join in virtually. For
reservations, call (727) 946-0963.
Dunedin Express
The family friendly Dunedin Express sponsored by the Dunedin History Museum
returns for its fifth run from December 4-16, 2020 with modifications due to COVID-19.
Activities at the North Pole at the Historic Andrews Memorial Chapel will be both
indoors and in an outdoor tent, and admission
times will be staggered to ensure that each
family has its own time at each activity. Face
masks for visitors and all participants will
be required. Families will drive their
own vehicles to the North Pole, and
you can expect to spend the usual
45-50 minutes there. Children may
sit on a chair between the Clauses
versus on their laps. For $20
tickets, visit the events page
at DunedinMuseum.org starting
November 7th.
Ronald McDonald House
Community meal groups that have for years provided homecooked
meals to families staying at Tampa and St. Petersburg
Ronald McDonald Houses had to stop because of coronavirus
restrictions. So Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa
Bay has begun a “Gift of Togetherness” campaign to cover the
purchase of meals from local restaurants and food trucks in
order to keep the families of sick children fed. You may visit
rmhctampabay.org to make a donation. Since 1980, when the
charity opened its doors, 2,000 families annually have been
served. There is no cost for a family to stay at a Ronald McDonald
House, but the cost to the charity of providing lodging, food
and support is $100 a night.
