Just as you did in step 2, lay the rows face to face and pin
together along the edges. Repeat the sewing process
(steps 3 - 4) and attach all the rows to create your
cushion top.
Now we will prepare the foam to create the cushion insert.
Measure and mark your foam with a permanent marker.
NOTE: The measurement shown here is for our selected
AAA block layout, be sure to adjust if you chose different
sized quilt blocks.
Carefully cut the foam on the marking lines. We prefer to use
an electric knife for easy cutting and less mess.
Our measurements are: 41 1⁄4” x 16” - back, 41 1⁄4” x 5 3⁄4” -
sides, cut 2; and 16” x 5 3⁄4” - ends, cut 2. Once cut, set aside.
NOTE: We folded in half and cut in layers, as shown here.
Now we will prepare to cut back, side, and end fabric. Use a
measuring tape to measure each part of the foam, and add
1⁄2” to allow for any error or movement of the fabric.
Once all sections are stitched together, your cushion top
should look like this. Measure horizontally and vertically
across the entire top, and make note of these measurements
to use in the next steps. (Ours is 40” x 15”).
