FOLDED FABRIC CORNERS
We chose colorful cotton fabrics that
coordinate with the needlepoint motifs
in the center of each design. The
corners of each block are created while
still in the hoop using our 3-step folded
fabric method. Your block will create
a placement stitch for a corner. From
there, you’ll lay your fabric right side
facing down along the stitched line,
touching the base material, and run a
folding stitch to secure it in place. You’ll
then fold the fabric over the line and
tack it in place, creating a fun color
pop corner.
BATTING
With our non-traditional quilting
technique, you will not only create the
impressive embroidered quilt block, but
it will also eliminate the need to place
batting, backing, and binding at the
same time! All of our quilt blocks are
designed to include a special squaring
stitch for the batting, saving you time
and hassle. When creating blocks with
a light or white base fabric like these,
we recommend using a batting that is
brighter as well, such as the Warm &
White batting we used in our blocks!
IN THE THICK OF IT
Since these designs feature 15-ply
stitches, we suggest that you use a
40wt embroidery thread. This will allow
the overlapping threads to resemble
the same thickness of the embroidery
floss used in traditional needlepoint.
