What does the “OML” in OML Embroidery stand for?
People have always tried to guess what the OML stands
for....and never guess correctly! OML stands for my three
dachshunds (weenie dogs) that I had when I was starting
embroidery. Their names were Oskar, Maya, and Lena (like
Oscar, Mayer wieners)—Perfect for my sense of humor.
What inspires you? The All Access books are so
inspirational—when I look at the designs, my head is flooded
with ideas, colors, and different fabric to use with the designs.
What is your favorite thing about Anita Goodesign? In a
word? Quality. Quality embroidery designs with a hoop size
for everyone!
What is your favorite Anita Goodesign collection, and
why? Oooo, that’s a difficult question. Really difficult, but I
would have to say the Quarter Turn Quilt collection. I like to
think outside the embroidery box so I did one of the Quarter
Turn quilt blocks in Halloween fabric and colors. It looked
amazing.
What advice would you give to someone just beginning
their journey into the wonderful world of machine
embroidery? Embroidery is a skill that you have to learn.
Know your machine, read your manual, and read the
instructions before you start a project. Do the work and
learn as much as you can. Also, you don’t have to have a big
bell and whistle expensive embroidery machine with huge
hoops—the needle goes up and down the same on every
machine—so you can do any design that fits into your hoop.
You can do it!
Tell me an interesting or random fact about yourself. I ride
a Harley, and I have since I was 18! I have my own Harley—I
am not a passenger, ever—and my Harley is designed for
me—and I love it! If I am not working, that’s what I am doing
—on my Harley coming up with awesome new embroidery
ideas! Fun Fact: My husband Don and I got married at our
local Harley dealer! Everyone wore Harley shirts and we
were in the newspaper and the national Harley magazine.
Yep, I gotta be me.
