JENN LABOY
Meet the woman that pulls the strings in the
Creative Department and helps All Access sail
smoothly into your hands every mon!
Jenn Laboy works as the Creative Director here at Anita
Goodesign. She takes charge in the meeting room to help plan
out the look of the coming months of All Access and directs
the Creative, Digitizing, and Graphics departments as we
prepare every collection and tutorial for the coming issues. She
manages the ins and outs of daily life in the office and has her
hand in every collection that comes across our desks. From
helping prep collection colors and picking out fabrics to editing
tutorials and All Access content, she’s a true Renaissance
woman! When she’s not working in the office, you can find her
on the road as she educates and entertains at Anita’s University
events across the country. We wanted to take a few moments
this month to sit down with Jenn and pick her brain about what
it’s like to work at Anita Goodesign.
We work in such a niche field, here at Anita. How did you
come into your position? The transition happened at the most
opportune time for me. I was at a point in my teaching career
where I knew this wasn’t my forever. And just like that, I saw a
posting for an Educator position at AGD and here I am!
What is your favorite part of your job? What isn’t my favorite
part? I am constantly reminded of how talented the employees
are and what a superior product we are putting out there for our
customers. If I need a little break, I might even end up playing
with an embroidery machine for a bit. Who can say they get to
do that at work? As far as traveling, I love going to new places
and meeting all sorts of different people.
You’re the Creative Director, but some customers will
recognize you as one of our Educators as well. How do you
balance your two roles? It’s a switch. I turn one off and I turn on
the other.
How long have you been with AGD and what kinds of
changes have you seen over time? I’ve been with AGD since
2014. I’ve seen a ton of growth in the areas of digitizing and
tutorials.
Can you give us a glimpse of your life outside of work?
Outside of work you can find me working out regularly and
cooking as much as possible. I try to spend as much time as I
can with some close friends of mine since I travel quite a bit. I
absolutely love water, so when it is warm, you’ll find me at the
beach, a pool, or on the lake. Plus, my dad lives in Puerto Rico
so I try to visit him once a year. I love getting outside and walking
the neighborhood as it helps me feel a bit more grounded.
When I need down time I’ll read, weave tapestries and one of
my favorite things to do is purchase terra cotta planters which I
then paint. I am also a huge foodie, girl has got to eat (especially
if it is charcuterie)!
