From the front side of the quilt, press the binding towards the
outside edge.
Use scissors to trim away any excess binding at this time.
Your binding should look like this.

Be sure to also steam press the mitered corners as well. Now, steam press the binding from the back side to help it
hug the quilt’s raw edge and lay flat.

To create your binding edge, you will want to create a
double fold. To do so, fold the raw edges of the binding strip
inwards to meet the raw edge of the quilt top, then fold once
more to conceal the 1⁄2” seam line on the back of the quilt.
Begin to pin the double fold to the quilt edge, ensuring the
fold comes just past the stitch line on the quilt to conceal it.
