Highlights from Our Past Issues
25 Years ago - July/August 1991
Our first “Best of” list of winners was chosen by our staff, unlike
today when our readers vote for their favorites. Some of those earlier
winners, such as Bon Appétit at the Marina Plaza on the Dunedin
waterfront, have continuously won a “Best of” award. Other winners,
such as Paul Wilborn, who was named the area’s “Best Newspaper
Columnist,” have gone on to other endeavors. Paul is now the
executive director of The Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg, where
he continues to serve the community with flair and excellence.

JULY/AUGUST 2016 | TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE 97
We celebrated the 75th anniversary
of the Blondie comic strip that was
created by Chic Young and continues
to be produced by his son Dean, who
lives on Clearwater Beach. Dean took
over the enterprise after his father’s
death in 1973. Dean’s training with
his dad put him in the proper mind
to keep “Blondie” a star for all these
years, and he continuously strives to
keep the comic strip contemporary.
Did you know that Dagwood and his
family are your neighbors?

Restaurant in

This is one of
those things that
never changes.
