We were both rejuvenated with sound massage therapy while
being massaged on unique Vibro-Acoustic Sound Tables. In
addition, our thermal experiences moved from an open-air
rooftop HydroSpa overlooking the Atlantic to a cleansing Crystal
Steam Room that prepared us to be cooled down through a
rainstorm-style shower. Next, we had a classic Finnish Sauna of
dry heat followed by a relaxing cool foot bath. We then moved
on to a warm ceramic room with a starlit ceiling that relaxed us
as we detoxified. Afterwards, the HydroSpa, with its variety of
water massages, prepared us for our final experience, the Igloo,
where a cool mist, enhanced by menthol, mint and eucalyptus,
refreshed our bodies. What a treat this was.
We passively observed the numerous fitness opportunities
that were going on all day, hour by hour, in accordance with
a daily calendar of activities that ranged from a massive, twostory
Rock Wall Bootcamp to Cycling and Pilates. The Fitness
Program offers group or individual exercise, meditation and
other sessions in a variety of venues, overlooking the Atlantic
Ocean or on a state-of-the-art Fitness Floor filled with Techno
Gym cardio and training machines.
As part of the Carillon’s integrative approach to health and
wellness, there are experiences like acupuncture, detox treatments,
specialized physical therapy, plus holistic and functional medicine
consultations and tests that are available to address various areas
of concern, such as pain, tension, weight and nutrition. There are
also anti-aging and corrective treatments for the face and body
and salon services for nails and hair.
This walkway to the beach is the view from the
pool on the third floor of the Spa.
The hotel’s restaurant, Thyme, serves
all day long as it moves from breakfast
through dinner. A wonderful buffet
breakfast is included in your stay, and
we found both lunch and dinner to be
exceptional pleasures. Chef Johann “Fritz”
Zwahlen has managed to create a menu that
is fresh and nutritious without sacrificing
flavor or portion size. From a starter such
as Gazpacho to generous servings of sea
bass with roasted cauliflower and panseared
brussels sprouts, we enjoyed every
morsel and even splurged on a chocolate
concoction that was uniquely delicious.
We were served a non-alcoholic soft drink
made with fresh ginger that delighted our
taste buds. The service and attention to
details in Thyme was extraordinary, as it
was throughout the entire hotel. It is easy
to see why AAA has awarded Carillon
four diamonds, as we give it five stars. 9
