When it comes
to dining in
D u n e d i n ,
we consider
ourselves to be the
experts. Yet, we recently
discovered this gem that has been there
for more than eight years. The problem
is one of location, as Julian’s is behind
KFC in the Coastal Shopping Center on
S.R. 580 facing Patricia Avenue. It is hard
to see from the street and is not where
you would expect to find a restaurant
of this quality. Open for both lunch and
dinner, Chef/Owner Julian Adams has
created a tribute to Italy here that is both
comfortable and attractive. His menu
is classic, as are his preparations and
servings.
Julian’s prices are very reasonable,
particularly when you factor in his
generous portions. In addition, his wait
staff consists of attentive, seasoned
professionals. His appetizers range
from a house-made Three-Bean Salad to
Sausage Cacciatore with fresh red and
green peppers sautéed with onions in a
red wine sauce. Chef Julian offers five
salads, including an antipasto; plus two
butter sauce; Scampi; a la
Artichokes of zucchini,
artichoke hearts and
mushrooms; and a la
Marie with mushrooms
and prosciutto. Most of
these can be ordered with your choice of
chicken, veal, shrimp, scallops or salmon.
There is also a delicious Parmesan
Crusted Salmon.
Of course, there is also a full pizza
menu, including the option of a glutenfree
crust, as well as a multitude of
sandwiches. They serve wine and beer
and offer a full children’s menu. Plan
on enjoying dessert, either to eat there
or to take home, as they are light and
delectable. We recommend the New
York Cheesecake, their Tiramisu or their
Lemoncello Cake. We don’t know how we
missed Julian’s, but we are certainly glad
that we have found it. 9
