A True Story
of Heroism
The New Steinway and Sons Spirio
For over 160 years Steinway and Sons has been making pianos.
Over the years, the company has received more than 125 patents.
This legendary firm has now developed the world’s finest high
resolution player piano, the Spirio. It is operated on an iPad, which
is installed at the time the piano is manufactured with no exterior
modifications to the instrument itself. It produces soft trills, delicate
pedaling and thundering fortissimos by controlling hammer velocity
and pedaling exactly as if the artists are playing in person. The music
library encompasses everything from Bach to Beethoven and from
Irving Berlin to Billy Joel as played by Steinway artists. This musical
masterpiece can be adjusted for playback intensity to set the perfect
mood for any occasion.
Charlie French of The Music Gallery in Clearwater introduced the new
Steinway technology to The Florida Orchestra Amadeus Society before a
performance by the Orchestra’s concert master Jeffrey Multer.
GRAM
St. Petersburg native Lynda
Lippman-Lockhart, who taught at
Seminole High School for twentysix
years, has written this novel of
historical fiction about a brief period
in the establishment of the State of
Israel. It involves a group of young
people who chose to take part in
a clandestine operation that could
have cost them their lives, but was
desperately needed by those who
wanted to create a “safe haven” for
the Jewish people. Although this tale
actually took place in the mid 1940s,
it was not fully revealed until almost
40 years later in 1986. Lynda’s first
book, Oodles of Poodles of Dark Corner,
was for children. The Laundry Room,
however, is for everyone. To purchase

This juried art show features 75 talented
artists and craftsmen from throughout
the Southeastern United States. It will
be held on Saturday and Sunday, July
16th and 17th, in the air-conditioned
St. Petersburg Coliseum, so it really is
“cool.” For 28 years, this free show, hosted
by the Professional Association of Visual
Artists (PAVA), has been drawing art
lovers to an indoor, comfortable venue
to meet high-quality artists and see their
newest creations.
Glitter Queens Ball
This evening of dining, dancing and entertainment is bound to be a
blast, as the Glitter Queens really know how to party. The Shawn Brown
Band will feature vocalist Alex Harris, and the proceeds will benefit
“Ready for Life,” a charity that helps those who are aging out of foster care.
This year’s Parisian-style cabaret soirée themed Ball is called La Vie en Rose, and
guests will be requested to come in pink or black cocktail attire. Don’t miss this
great fundraiser that will be held on Saturday, September 10th at the St. Petersburg
Yacht Club. For tickets, sponsorships and donations, visit www.stpeteglitterqueens.org.
