Since 1989, Kelly’s
on Main Street in
downtown Dunedin
has been one of
the dining meccas of this
foodie’s paradise. Serving
breakfast, lunch and dinner (with breakfast
overlapping lunch), they are a perennial
favorite any time of day. For those wanting
breakfast, there are specialty omelets that
are served with either potatoes or grits
and toast or pancakes, unique muffins
that change daily, or French Toast that is
legendary.
At lunch time, the menu expands to
include the breakfast items in addition to
soups; flatbreads; salads; great sandwiches,
such as their Cajun or Grilled Grouper;
and hamburgers, such as their Blue State
Burger of ground chuck topped with
stilton cheese, brandied mushrooms,
California peach mustard and arugula.
Their Shrimp and Grits is prepared with
a white wine garlic pan sauce that makes
it one of the best we have had. Likewise,
their Fried Brussels Sprouts with Pecorino
Romano cheese, fresh lime and smoked
sea salt are bound to thrill your taste buds.
As their name implies, the menu is varied
and Lounge next door
shares the giant covered
patio that allows you to
dine al fresco if you so
desire.
The service at Kelly’s is
geared to make guests feel at home. It is
easy to tell that their staff enjoys coming
to work here, as the smiles are genuine
and bright.
Since there is so much to like about
Kelly’s, diners have their own reasons
for going there. So, don’t be surprised if
you have a short wait to get in, unless you
plan ahead and make reservations. This
is Dunedin’s melting pot, where you will
see local residents and tourists alike, as
they enjoy the gracious hospitality that has
made Kelly’s a destination for decades. 9

and changes twice a year to ensure you
will find new and exciting dishes to try.
During dinner hours, the menu offers
more formal entrees, such as Crab Cakes
with chipotle remoulade; a sea scallops,
shrimp, calamari and grouper Cioppino
in a saffron fennel broth; Grilled Scottish
Salmon; Baby Back Ribs; a Braised Pork
Osso Buco with smoked tomato-fennel
chutney; a seven-ounce Grilled Filet
Mignon; and Wild Mushroom Rissoto with
portobello, shiitake and oyster mushrooms
to which you can add either grilled chicken
or shrimp. The starter menu is also very
diverse and features many standards like
Crispy Fried Calamari, Shrimp Cocktail
and Short Rib Poutine, which have been
given Kelly’s special touch. Desserts are
made in-house, and we usually share a
piece of both White Chocolate Pecan Pie
and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, since we
can’t decide which we love more.
