The Straz Center’s Master Plan
Ambitious ideas for expansion, as shown in this rendering, are only
a hint of what the Straz Center may ultimately become.
I n March, the Straz Center’s President and CEO
Judy Lisi and board of trustees chair Gary Sasso
announced the completion of the conceptual phase
of the Center’s Master Plan. It is their vision that the
Straz Center will become a beacon for downtown Tampa,
which will draw people to the Riverwalk and to their
campus as an attraction, not just as a destination for seeing
a show or attending a class at the Patel Conservatory.
They envision the Straz as a state-of-the-art complex with
a sustainable campus and architecture that reflects the
surrounding landscape and Hillsborough River, which
will become a gathering place and a cultural crossroads
for the diverse people of the Tampa Bay area.
