Gary Connors accepted the Arc of Tampa Bay’s
2016 Champions of Hope Award from
John Simmons for his friend Frank Chivas,
the owner of the Baystar Restaurant Group,
that was given to Frank based upon his
exemplary community service. The award was
given at the celebration of the Foundation’s
founder, Dr. William Hale.
Brian Lamb has been elected chair of
the University of South Florida board of
trustees. He is a USF Alumnus, who is
also working toward an Executive MBA.
Jordan Zimmerman was named the
board’s vice chair.
Beth Daniels, president of the
Clearwater Arts Alliance, believes that the
Alliance’s new public art project, “Thinking
Outside the Box” that will transform signal
boxes at various intersections, will bring
artwork to unexpected public places by
covering these necessary but drab boxes
with vibrant art. Artists Tim Boatright,
Ya La’Ford, and Ray Paul will wrap the
first seven boxes in and around downtown
Clearwater.

com Restaurants and Catering has
announced that his Hangar Restaurant
at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg
has added another night to their
Al Downing Jazz and Jam Nights to be
held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each
month. He has also completed a new
waterfront dock and seawall at The Pub
Waterfront Restaurant in Indian Shores
and is looking forward to his new annex
at 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House
in downtown St. Petersburg.
Pannee Farooque is the new owner
of Thai Spice Restaurant, which is
located at 2475 McMullen Booth Road at
the southwest corner of the Enterprise
Road intersection in Clearwater.
