Our folded fabric technique makes quilting in the hoop so
easy by using your embroidery machine to give your quilt
blocks crisp, clean lines with minimal effort. This method cuts
down on the fabric waste that would come with traditional
quilt piecing, because you only need to use enough
appliqué to cover your placement stitch and to give yourself
seam allowance—that’s it! These designs use both standard
appliqué and folded fabric appliqué, so make sure to pay
attention to the steps when placing your fabrics. Remember:
folded fabric will always be placed right side down first.
Ensure that you read the steps all the way through before
you begin, with all your fabrics and threads out and ready to
go. After your appliqués are placed, the rest of the designs
consist of decorative embroidery using satin stitches, blanket
stitches, fill stitches, and more! You’ll have a cute, 4x4” block
in no time!
By placing your appliqué face
down and stitching a seam on
top, you get a nice, even fold
when you flflflip the fabric over.
