WHAT
YOU NEED
There are lots of applications for straight stitch embroidery.
For our project, we are creating a throw pillow, but you can
use these same instructions for lots of other projects too!
FABRICS NOTIONS
Silk, satin, cotton, or
wool; they’re all great
for projects. The most
important thing for this
collection is selecting a
solid colored fabric.
PROJECT FABRIC
To make a pillow, you’ll need a couple
extra pieces of fabric
Front Fabric: 21” x 16”
Back Fabric (x2): 21” x 14”

For this collection, we
chose a tonal color
pallet, so we grouped
3 colors with different
tones to create a
cohesive design. Test
your creativity by
adding metallic or
variegated thread!
We used silk Dupioni for
our pillows. Whenever
you embroider on a
delicate fabric, make
sure you back it with
a fusible interfacing
like Pellon 860 Ultra
Weft. For garments, use
Floriani Wonder Weave.
To create this pillow,
you will need: pins, a
seam ripper, rotary
cutter, and ruler.
