An Evening with Louis Markoya
Tampa Bay Magazine held a reception catered by Chef Robert Masson of the Palm Cafe at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, and a
private viewing of artist Louis Markoya’s creative and unusual work on display at St. Petersburg College’s Leepa-Rattner Museum
of Art in Tarpon Springs. Markoya was mentored by Salvador Dalí for several years while he assisted the famous Spanish artist
with developing new and different ways to create art.
Former Florida Governor and Tampa
Mayor Bob Martinez and his wife Mary
Jane were among the many guests who
The Humane Society of Pinellas held its 2021 Paws for a Cause Gala in Ruth Eckerd Hall’s Margarete Heye Great Room in
Clearwater. Supporters, who are eager to prevent animal homelessness in our community and to provide care and assistance to
animals in need, gathered for the society’s cocktail reception, auctions and seated dinner. The group’s CEO Jeff Voelpel gave an
update on the construction of its new hurricane-safe, state-of-the-art facility, which is being made possible by the generosity of
Rebecca and Stu Sjouwerman of KnowBe4. During the program, volunteers of the year were announced: Richard Fitzgerald as
Foster Volunteer, Nettie Thompson as Small Wonders Volunteer, Diana Lincoln as Cat Volunteer and Cindy Crane as Dog Volunteer.
