pioneer and
community leader.
She was the first woman hired in sales by DuPont
de Nemours in the mid-1970s, introducing Mylar
polyester film into food packaging and Kapton
polyimide film into the aerospace program. In the
1980s, she oversaw the breakup of the AT&T into
the “Baby Bells,” and launched credit card calling
from payphones for ITT (International Telephone
& Telegraph Corp.) She then founded the market
research company CCOM with such clients as ATT,
American Express and MasterCard. Currently, she
is owner, president and CEO of Astral Extracts Ltd.,
one of a small number of women company owners
in the global flavor and
fragrance industry. She
has also made a big
difference in the arts. As
the current president
of the Museum of Fine
Art’s Collectors Circle in St. Petersburg, she has
helped raise funds for major art acquisitions and
important museum publications. She has been
honored by the trade association FEMA (Flavor
Extracts and Manufacturers Association) with
the President’s In Service Award and was past
president and chairman of the board of NAFFS
(National Association of Flavors and Flavor
Systems). Cynthia Astrack has distinguished herself
both in the business world and in the cultural life
of St. Petersburg.
