BETSY SCHWEITZER
Betsy Schweitzer
moved to Pinellas
County in 1972 with her late husband Marty.
She now has two grown children, Eric and
Karly, and one engaging grandchild, Maxwell. Betsy
graduated from Ohio State and taught elementary
school for 10 years before becoming a professional
volunteer. Active in the Clearwater/Dunedin Junior
League, she volunteered in many community projects,
including the public schools K-12, and winning the
Volunteer of the Year award in 1990. She also enjoyed
teaching reading to the workers at the sanitation
department. She relocated to St. Petersburg in 2012,
becoming a patron of the arts and a docent at the Dalí

Museum. As a member of
the Dalí Guild, she served
as membership chair. Betsy is also a member and
donor of the Museum of Fine Arts, the James Museum
and is in docent training at the new Museum of the
American Arts and Crafts Movement, all located
in St. Petersburg. She is a donor to Morton Plant
Mease Health Care Foundation, Habitat for Humanity,
211 Tampa Bay Cares, Lighthouse for the Blind and
Southeastern Guide Dogs. In her spare time, she has
traveled to six of the seven “Wonders of the World”
and plans to do the seventh sometime in the near
future.
