Dr. Zena Lansky
is an expert
in nutritional
support of
ZENA LANSKY
the critically ill
patient. She was
born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and educated
at the University of Pennsylvania before serving
an internship at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx,
New York City, and a residency at Bellevue Hospital
in Manhattan. She joined the staff of Morton Plant
Hospital in Clearwater in 1972. She was the first woman
chief surgical resident at NYU’s Bellevue Hospital, the
first female surgeon on staff at Morton Plant Hospital
and the only woman named chief of surgery there. She
was the first board certified female general surgeon
in the state of Florida and a member of the American
College of Surgeons. She invented the first PEG

kept her husband, Warren
Rodgers, alive for 16
years. She started her
own JCAH Infusion Co.
for her patients. Her accomplishments and awards
include the annual Not-for-Profit workshop with her
husband, being named Philanthropist of the Year by
the Association of Fundraising Professionals, receiving
the Breaking the Glass Ceiling Award, Advancement
of Women in Surgery-USF, Health Care Hero Award
from the Tampa Bay Business Journal and the Tree of
Life Award. Her philanthropy includes the Straz
Center in Tampa, Opera Tampa, SPCA Tampa Bay
animal welfare agency and the Morton Plant Mease
Health Care Foundation.
