The circular motifs featured in the architectural details of the spiral staircase and the large round window are
repeated throughout this modern coastal farmhouse design. Monochromatic shades of gray, tan and steel blue
enhance the beauty of the driftwood ceiling and granite floors. Natural linen, lush velvet, and the nailhead trim
found in the custom cornices, sofa, and cocktail table add textural contrast and interest to this living room.
As these waterfront residences illustrate, coastal
homeowners can feel free to live in interiors that
reflect their own favorite styles, not just in overtly
nautical surroundings.
Designer Jen Kravchuk of Decker Ross Interiors in Clearwater
created these three coastal design concepts to complement their
architectural details, plus their owners’ personal tastes, color
preferences and lifestyles. One of her clients requested a Key Westinspired
design with rich citrus and blue color tones. Another
client preferred a tranquil monochromatic modern farmhouse
meets coastal design aesthetic, while the third client requested a
more contemporary look. Despite their divergent overall tastes,
all three clients were accommodated through textural contrasts
in fabric, furniture, flooring, lighting and accessory selections
that were made to provide beautifully cohesive coastal interior
designs to suit their individual tastes.
