Pixar Animation Studios’ Toy Story
films inspired this newest land at
the Walt Disney World Resort’s
Hollywood Studios. Characters
from these movies including
Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Slinky
Dog and Green Army Men come to life
in “Andy’s backyard” in this new area.
Giant Tinkertoys, board game pieces and
building blocks are scaled large enough
to make you feel like small, “honorary
toys.” A 20-foot-tall Sheriff Woody greets
visitors as they enter Toy Land and become
immersed in this world of toys.
Spread over 11 acres, there is a lot to
see and do in Toy Story Land, starting
with a cleverly conceived roller coaster
styled after Slinky Dog. The Slinky Dog
Dash is designed from Andy’s Coaster Kit
and uses this classic 1940s canine toy with
the coil body to create a ride that carries
guests around and above Toy Story Land.
It provides great views of the area until the
ride concludes with a visit to Wheezy, the
films’ squeaky penguin.
The Alien Swirling Saucers is a galactic
space toy that Andy won at the Pizza Planet
restaurant. The spin ride features the
planet’s adorable, little, three-eyed green
aliens that drive toy rocket ships with
guests in tow, while “The Claw” hovers
overhead. Fun, fun, fun.
