Fifteen years before
Christopher Still
painted the Great Seal
of Florida that was to
become the cover for
our 2008 September/
October issue, we were
celebrating his work,
which appeared on
the cover of American
Artist magazine. He
continues to preserve
Florida’s history and
nature while painting
masterpieces based
upon his never ending
research of Florida’s
past and an appreciation
of its present natural
wonders.
The Sarasota Opera
celebrated its 50th season
by renovating the Florida
Theatre that it purchased in
1979 and opened in 1984.
Under the watchful eye
of creative director Victor
DeRenzi, the opera company,
headquartered downtown on
North Pineapple Avenue, has
continued to thrive as a bright
star in Sarasota’s rich cultural
scene.
The Great Seal of the state
of Florida was painted
by Christopher Still.
Tarpon Springs artist Christopher Still was
featured as one of our personality profiles.
The renovation of the
Sarasota Opera House
included this atrium.
