(Chase Elliott in
2014, William Byron in 2017 and Tyler Tyle
Reddick in 2018 and 2019)?
Allgaier seemed on a progression to national na
stardom when he
won the Championship in the 2008 ARCA AR
Racing Series presented
by Menards at age 22. He then ran for for
��ve years in x��nity, winning
single events in three consecutive seasons,sea
from 2010-12, with 84
top-10 ��nishes in 170 starts and Championship Cham
��nishes between
third and sixth.
But then he graduated to the NASCAR NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series with HScott
Motorsports in 2014 and it was a two-year,y
unmitigated disaster, with
only a single top-10 ��nish in 71 races, plus p
one failure to qualify.
Then came Allgaier’s run-in with Earnh
Earnhardt at Darlington.
Allgaier won at Dover, Iowa, Mid-Ohio a
and Elkhart Lake before driving
to the checkered ��ag in what has been
his greatest victory – for now –
in the Lilly Diabetes 250 at the Indianapolis Indianap
Motor Speedway.

Allgaier ��rst came to Indianapolis for the ��rst time in 1994
to watch the inaugural Brickyard 400. He was 8.
“I’ve been coming here a long time,” he said, “and to ��nally
win here is pretty special.”
In 2017 Allgaier was one of two X��nity playoff quali��ers
with multiple victories – a signi��cant achievement in ��elds
heavy with NASCAR Cup Series regulars. Last season, he
was one of three Playoff quali��ers with more than
one victory.
