Brandon Jones will get a second teammate for the 2020 season when Riley Herbst
joins the JGR family on the xnity Series. Jones also received good news when
Mendards agreed to continue sponsorship of his car into 2020.
According to Speedsport, Menards spokesperson said, “We are very
excited about sponsoring Brandon Jones again in the NASCAR
xnity Series. Brandon is a sharp young man and has been a
great representative for Menards. We can’t wait to see him
back in the No. 19 Menards Toyota challenging for the
Championship this year.”
The 22-year-old, Atlanta, Georgia native once again
made it to the Playoffs in 2019, but the challenge is
to push beyond the Round of 12.
Late season heroics left Jones feeling condent
heading into the 2020 xnity season. Jones secured
his rst career xnity Series win at Kansas and
followed that up with a fourth-place nish at Texas
and a season-ending top-10 at Homestead. That
gave him 50 career top-10s in 137 races.
He returns to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2020.
“I would hope so,” Jones said before ofcially announcing the
re-up with JGR. “I think I’ve proved myself in this car, at least this
year. We’ve still got the end of the year left, we’re still trying to win a
Championship, so that’ll denitely help the conversation if we get that done.”
Just ask Brandon Jones, sometimes a racing career is a matter of taking
baby steps.
He started slowly in his rst season at Joe Gibbs Racing with no top-
ve and three top-10 nishes, as well as a 16th-place nish in the 2017
NASCAR xnity Series point standings.
