Chastain’s racing career started later than some young
phenoms because he worked on his family’s watermelon
farm until he was 13. He knew by college age though
that racing was a passion as he left Florida Gulf Coast
University after just one semester. He became the rst
generation in his family to race competitively.
Chastain would go on to score over 50 short-track wins
including the 2011 World Series of Asphalt at New
Smyrna Speedway.

Chastain ran away from the eld along with Tyler Ty
Ankrum as the
two drivers battled all the way way over the nish nish line.l
“I thought I had a good enough truck to chase chase
him down, but I
couldn’t couldn’t get close enough to him to catch the
draft. I was just
ghting ‘tight,’ and I burned my tires up trying trying
to catch him,”
Ankrum told NASCAR.com.
