& OUTDOORS Truck Series team for all 94 of his
career Truck Series starts. The family operation has
six wins and 49 top-10 nishes, but they’ve only
had sufcient funding to compete at a full-time
level for two seasons.
The highlight came in 2017 when Nemechek
won consecutive races at Gateway Motorsports
Park and Iowa Speedway to qualify for Truck
Series NASCAR Playoffs. He made it all the
way to the Round of 6 before settling for an
eighth-place nish in the points.
Nemechek got a chance to make 18 starts
for Chip Ganassi’s xnity team in 2018, and
he responded with the win at Kansas.
When Ganassi picked Ross Chastain to
be his full-time driver in xnity, Nemechek’s
2019 plans suddenly were in doubt. Then
came the offer from GMS Racing.
“The results that GMS Racing showed last year
in their NASCAR xnity Series program were

impressive,” Nemechek said. “Their goal is to create a
Championship-caliber team, like their Truck Series
program, and I believe that we can achieve that goal
in the 2019 season.”
Nemechek began racing at the age of ve, competing in
go karts and quarter midget races. He also found success
on a dirt bike, proof that racing was — like his dad — in
his blood. In 2020, he will have the chance to compete for
NASCAR Rookie of the Year honors.
