Austin Hill will remain with Hattori Racing cing Enterprises to build on a strong 2019
2019
that cemented the young driver as one e of the best on the Truck circuit.
The 25-year-old Georgia native nished ed fth in the 2019 standings
despite winning four more races than the Champion, Matt
Crafton, who secured enough points to win despite never
reaching Victory Lane.
The lesson of that for Hill is to race more consistently
in order to fend off someone like Crafton. After making
his xnity Series debut, he continued racing well in
the Truck Series -- winning the season-ender
at Homestead.

His season started and ended with a win, giving his
Hattori team something to build on heading into 2020.
“This is probably the best truck that I’ve had. I know we were
really good at Vegas, but man, this thing was good,” Hill told
ESPN after the victory at Homestead. “At Vegas we were on a
different tire strategy than other guys, but we weren’t this time and
we just showed them how good we actually were. I’m excited for the
win, but at the same time it stings a little bit because I know if we would
have been a little better in the Round of 6, we could be celebrating a win
and a Championship.”
Hill also won at Michigan International and Las Vegas, but a 26th place
nish at Martinsville, two weeks before Homestead, might have ultimately
sunk his Championship hopes.
This season will mark Hill’s third full season on the GANDER RV &
OUTDOORS Truck Series and his second driving the No. 16 for HRE.
