Once trimmed, take the base fabric and place it on top of the
batting. Make sure that there is at least 1/2” seam allowance
on all four sides.
After the decorative embroidery, run the placement stitch for
the first appliqué for the folded fabric border.
Next, fold the fabric taut against the folding stitch and run the
tacking stitch to hold it in place.
The next machine step is the tacking stitch. Run the decorative
embroidery for the background block.
(If you select a border that completely covers all 4 sides of the
block, you may trim the excess base fabric up to the tacking stitch).
Take the first appliqué fabric and place it on top of the
placement stitch, face down, and run the folding stitch.
Use embroidery scissors to trim the excess fabric within the
quit block. Leave a 1/2” seam allowance outside of the base
fabric tacking stitch.
