Step-by-Step
Instructions
A B
To begin, we will first make the shape for your towel that the
design will stitch on. Fold a 18” x 28” linen towel in half, pretty
sides out and measure 6 1⁄2” from the bottom edge. Place a pin
to mark the spot.
Next, measure a straight line from the pinned measurement to
the opposite corner and draw a line between the two points.
C D
Using a pair of scissors or rotary cutter and ruler, cut along the
pencil mark, removing the bottom edge of the napkin.
Once trimmed, open and smooth out the towel, which will look
something like this.
E F
Take a ruler and measure a 1” seam and make a pencil mark
(solid line). Now measure in a 1⁄2” and fold the towel’s raw edge
up to the 1⁄2” mark (dashed line), then fold again to conceal the
raw edge.
Use pins to secure the double folded hem.
TIP: You can use a double stick fusible tape such as Steam-ASeam
to assist in making and pressing the newly created hem.
