TOILE TIDBITS
The popularization of Toile designs in America traces back to Colonial Williamsburg. Toile
patterns became prevalent as ways to depict historical events, and told stories about
important founders and events in the country’s history such as wars and even inventions.
Toile patterns are also made up of repeated vignettes featuring outdoor or nature scenes
such as picnics, birds, meadows and others.
Our On-Point Toile Quilt pays homage to this traditional fabric, by creating the Toile look
with embroidery. These quilt blocks feature an elegant beauty that stitches out easily
right in the hoop. We added stippling within the designs, and framed each block with
folded fabric borders. Also included are two finishing blocks to give different options for
arranging your quilt.
