Trim away any excess batting from the outside of the tacking
stitch around all four sides.

Place the base fabric right side up, covering the batting and
placement stitches.

Trim away any excess base fabric outside the tacking stitches.
Then run the next machine step, which will be the placement
stitch for the base fabric.

base fabric.
Once the base fabric is trimmed, the block should look like this.
Remember, this block will have a folded fabric border, which will
serve as the seam allowance.
