CREATING THE BACK
Use scissors to trim away the excess
batting from the tacking stitch.
Now, place the base fabric, right side up,
over the batting. Be sure to leave at least 1⁄2"
seam allowance on all sides of the block.
The next machine step will tack down
the base fabric, then continue to run the
background quilting stitches for the design.

thread that matches the
fabric to complement instead
of detract from the design.
