Once the rows are joined, you are ready to add backing. Place
the back fabric face down and the tile scene on top, as shown.
The back fabric should be large enough to leave a minimum of 2”
extra back fabric on all sides of the tile scene.

Starting with the innermost seams, stitch in the ditch along the
vertical and horizontal connecting seams.

Using scissors and a straight edge, cut away any excess back
fabric, leaving 1⁄2” seam allowance on all sides.
Using temporary spray adhesive or quilter’s pins, secure the tile
scene to the backing.
At this point, the back of your tile scene should look something
like this.
Cut strips of binding to be 2 1⁄2” wide, to a total of 140” binding
when sewn together.
