Now, fold the bias in half lengthwise and press with an iron.
Again, be sure to move the iron in the direction of the straight
grain when pressing to avoid stretching the bias.
Once all the strips are joined, take one end of the bias strip and
press the edge inwards at a 1/4” to create a clean edge to the
binding.

To begin, we will attach the first 6” of the binding strip starting with
the clean pressed end. Open up the folded bias strip and pin its
raw edge to the raw edge of the quilt top.
Transfer the quilt to your machine, flipping it so you will be sewing
from the bottom side of the quilt (binding will be resting
below). Sew the strip to the quilt, stopping the stitch at the last pin
you placed.

After sewing the first 6”, your binding will look something like this. Now, bring the free edge of the binding down to meet the sewn
edge. This will create an opening that will be left unattached
until the end. Place a pin as shown, a couple of inches from the
pressed 1/4” end.
