The next machine step is the tacking stitch for the back
fabric to hold it in place.
Tape the base fabric face up on top of the design and
securely tape it in place.

Use embroidery scissors to trim only the straight edge of the
design. Leave the rest of the seam allowance and tape in
place.
Flip the hoop back over so the top side is face up. Place the
base fabric face up on top of the embroidery design, then
run the tacking stitch for the top fabric.
