Lay your base fabric over top of your batting, being sure to
cover it completely. Secure your fabric in place with tape or a
temporary adhesive spray (inset).
NOTE: We opted to use a shimmery cork fabric for our
base and back fabric pairing, but the choice is yours!

Run your next machine step, which will be the tacking stitch
for your base fabric.
Using a pair of sharp curved tip appliqué scissors, trim away
your excess base fabric close to the tacking stitch line.
Using a sharp pair of curved tip scissors, trim away the
excess batting from around the tacking stitch line.
